Hybrid steepest-descent method with sequential and functional errors in Banach space

Let $X$ be a reflexive Banach space, $T:Xto X$ be a nonexpansive mapping with $C=Fix(T)neqemptyset$ and $F:Xto X$ be $delta$-strongly accretive and $lambda$- strictly pseudocotractive with $delta+lambda>1$. In this paper, we present modified hybrid steepest-descent methods, involving sequential errors and functional errors with functions admitting a center, which generate convergent sequences ...

Minimization Theorem in a Banach Space and Its Applications

In this paper, we prove a minimization theorem for a proper lower semicontinuous convex function in a real Banach space, applying Takahashi’s nonconvex minimization theorem. Then we give another proof of Bishop-Phelps’ theorem.

Contractive Projections on Banach Spaces

Increasing sequences of contractive projections on a reflexive LP space share an unconditionality property similar to that exhibited sequences of self-adjoint projections on a Hilbert space. A slight variation of this property is shown to be precisely the correct condition on a reflexive Banach space to ensure that every operator with a contractive AC-functional calculus is scalar-type spectraL

The antipodal mapping theorem and difference equations in Banach spaces †

We employ the Borsuk-Krasnoselskii antipodal theorem to prove a new fixed point theorem in ordered Banach spaces. Then, the applicability of the result is shown by presenting sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions to initial value problems for first-order difference equations in Banach spaces. To prove that result we shall employ set valued analysis techniques.

Weak * Sequential Closures in Banach Space Theory and Their Applications

Let X be a (real or complex) Banach space, its dual Banach space will be denoted by X *. We use standard notation and terminology of Banach space theory, see J.Lindenstrauss and L.Tzafriri [LT]. By a subspace we mean a linear, but not necessarily closed, subspace. We also assume some knowledge of general topology and ordinal numbers, see P.S.Aleksandrov[A]. Definition 1.1. Let A be a subset of ...
